What I Want From You But I Can’t Have

What I want from you is your leg tangled in mine and your fingers wrapped in my hair and your mouth drooling on my chest while we sleep
But I can’t have this
What I want from you is your ideas mixing with my ideas and this creating bigger ideas and beautiful things flowering from that and we step back and marvel at the creation we just built
But this isn’t happening
What I want from you is your sense of adventure melding with my sense of adventure and we go and build bridges in unconquerable passages we were brave enough to explore together
But those lands will remain untouched
What I want from you is your fab musical taste and my fab musical taste getting together and creating a sound so beautiful it can’t help but resonate the world over and is sung on other people’s lips and even held in their chests…
But this remains silent
Just like your silences, that empty place where I want words to be, that lonely gap where I am the only one there because you can’t muster enough interest to give even an inch when I’m throwing rulers at your face. And these big dreams wash away in the disappointing sadness that isn’t fair to me. What I want from you I can’t have because you refuse to give.
