Happy Anniversary, Zelda. The Princess, not Link (OF COURSE.)
I was one of the originals, playing you as a kid in the 1980s on a bean bag chair, eating sour cherries candy. Or maybe pixie stix. One thing was for sure, everybody’s grandpa had an El Camino, but with no rims like you see today.
The biggest take away from Zelda for Real Life, meaning an experience you can still feel today comes from SNES and Zelda: A Link To the Past (the best game ever IMHO). In the forest, you wander and eventually make your way to many false swords. You realize after eagerly approaching such swords that they are false idols. They are not the Real Thing. What Link is seeking is the Master Sword. This is how he will fight the Dark World. You are going to encounter many false swords in your quest for the Master Sword too, my friends. False idols (are you hearing me, you romantics especially) and wrong paths that look right.
The biggest thing, and the most important thing, is remaining strong in WHO YOU ARE in the face of those false idols (DO YOU HEAR ME?!?) As they will make you question everything about this journey. The ones who lose are the ones who quit. You must stay in the game. This sounds like crazy talk, yes! But I believe in you and this quest. Stay strong.
