Not Going To Do It. A Post About Acceptance.

One of the symptoms of our modern sickness of telling women to smile, be thin, blend in like wallpaper and overall conform and be the good little commodity you were born to profit from actually goes beyond the physical.

Women are expected to flirt, to make eye contact, generally follow a script of people’s expectations of what her role is.   I hate this. I’m very real, everything I do comes from this place of me being real, I don’t follow scripts, I treat every person the same, I’m not very observant overall BECAUSE IT’S NOT IMPORTANT TO ME.  The truth is the fact that I get dressed and go out in the world and deal with humans is a miracle.  I have a big, sincere heart that cares.  I’m soft in the middle. I’m fundamentally very nerdy, I have obsessions with music, books, film, games, learning in general, experiencing the world from a sincere place, which brings a level of social disconnect since I’m not wired the same, the most important part of this being that I DON’T WANT TO BE THE SAME.

This is where people’s infringement and judgement comes into play: “You need to do this, you need to do that, you need to be MORE…flirt more, do more of this..”  People have a blueprint, and they want me to follow it.  Wouldn’t it be neat if people could just love and accept people for who they are?? We see this struggle with people’s race and sexuality in the context of the world but what about other areas like what I deal with?? Take me as I am.  You can take it or leave it. I’m not going to be something I’m not.  I for damn sure am not going to conform to some standard you think I need to be following.  Acceptance of others shouldn’t be a struggle.  Just…accept them.  You are not the lord of how another person should be.  Ultimately I believe even if on a personal level we may not totally jive or even like another person personally our job is still to overall give love to one another and not infringe on them as a form of respect to them.
